19 of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one victories have been earned on hard surfaces
A comeback the Russian player claimed his maiden trophy for over two years with victory over opponent Moutet in the tournament championship match.
Medvedev, a ex- world number one, has endured a torrid period, winning just one win at the major tournaments and suffering a difficult moment at the US Open.
The player's inconsistency on the professional circuit - and difficulties with his serving in specific - led to him dropping out of the elite rankings and eventually parting ways with long-time trainer Cervara.
Now collaborating with his coach and Rohan Goetzke, he has gradually advanced in the last few weeks - culminating in a hard-fought competitive triumph over opponent Moutet.
It is his maiden title following the Italian tournament and initial on a hard court since that period of the previous year.
The win also means Medvedev has won twenty-one victories at twenty-one different tournaments.
"This marks the first occasion I'm at a event with my both daughters at once, so to secure a championship is particularly special," said world number 14 Daniil Medvedev.
"This championship is in honour of my younger daughter Victoria, because the maiden victory I achieved when my older daughter my daughter was born was for her."
The athlete, the past champion, had failed in his previous six title deciders, including in that event earlier this year.
His defensive strategy and recurring reactions on court had led observers to wonder if his ability to play at the top level was finished.
Yet the 29-year-old has implemented adjustments in recent weeks, striving to come to the net and play positively, reinforced by an enhanced serve.
Medvedev recovered from a break down in the initial set against the tricky Moutet, taking four of the concluding five games to gain the advantage.
Both players traded break points in the second set before the challenger, striving for his maiden professional championship, gained dominance to force a third set.
He rescued four early opportunities in a close third set before Medvedev secured a break to 15 to close out the victory.
Appropriately, Medvedev secured victory with a shot at the net, with his opponent incapable to handle a shot after a lengthy match.
